Another HUGE Thank You!

Another huge thanks to our community!  85 masks donated this past week alone bringing our total to a whopping 154!!  I am so proud of us!  These masks will be going to Blossom Birth and PAMF!

I have been hearing back from the healthcare community that they really like the ones with two layers of fabric (more layers just make it hard to breath) and with the elastic on the edges – this makes them easy to put on and take off and they wash up really well.  Here is a link to a good tutorial for these types of face masks.

On Connie's Play Desk Today

I thought it would be fun to share a little about what I have been creating personally! I have been working on a hand pieced quilt call Grandmother’s Flower Garden. These are my latest “flowers”. If you’d like to see more of what I’ve been up to, please hop over to my personal blog: Connie’s Creations

Spool Knit Snail

I’m so excited to share this activity! When I was young, my grandmother lived with us. She loved to bake and craft and spent lots of time doing those thing with my sister and I. I remember spool knitting from my childhood and I’m hoping that you have as much fun with it as I did (and still do!). In this new video, you will not only learn to make your very own spool knitted snail, you will also learn how to make a spool knitter from things you have laying around your home. Take some time out today to be creative!

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!

Our community is so caring and generous! We had collected 69 masks as of Saturday (photos attached) which were delivered to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. More have come in since then. I am overwhelmed with how many people want to help! Masks are still necessary and needed. If you'd like to make some here is a YouTube video with detailed instructions - anyone can do it - beginner included! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q3Mq5sftNuo&t=17s

Zippered Pouch

Let's Go Crafting is practicing social distancing and is closed for in person classes. To help entertain and make it easier as we are all sheltering in place, we will be releasing a video each day of a fun project that is appropriate for all skill levels and ages. Today's project is a zippered pouch - great to make for yourself or as a gift for others!

Birthday Party

It’s always so exciting to be able to help celebrate a special birthday in the studio! Today was a fantastic day. The birthday girl, her sister, and 10 of her friends celebrated by making fun stuffed owls. Each one is unique and made with care. So fun to assist these wonderful girls create something so special.

Plan your next party at Let’s Go Crafting. Parties for kids and adults!

Halloween Workshops!

I can’t believe that Halloween is actually here. We have had such a great time creating Halloween costumes during Let’s Go Crafting’s Halloween Workshops!!

This student decided to make something for her little brother. A cute little pig romper. How sweet is that?!!

All of these are original ideas! A shark cape - you have to LOVE those teeth and the cute ribbon!

The minion costume pattern was drafted from an old t-shirt as was the yellow skittles costume. Talk about getting a perfect fit! Making clothes from clothes you already own is such a great skill to have!

Four full body suit costumes! Lots of work, but boy did it pay off!

Then we have Totoro - a costume thought up by this student and created here at Let’s Go Crafting!

The panda hoodie is so cute! As is the sushi hat! All original ideas thought up by these students. I really LOVE helping to bring ideas to fruition!!!

Donation Workshops

Donation workshops have become an important part of Let’s Go Crafting offerings. Every month we hold a workshop where children ages 2nd grade through high school come and make things that are donated to local organizations. Donation workshops are completely free. All skills levels are welcome, all supplies are included and light snacks are provided.

This month, on Saturday, August 31st from 9:00am-12:00pm, we are sewing quilt tops (I will finish the quilts) to donate to the Veterans Administration in Palo Alto.

Past donation workshops have focused on making cat/dog beds for Pets In Need in Palo Alto,

and making tote bags that were filled with all kinds of goodies such as shampoo, conditioner, toothbrushes, tooth paste, floss, soap etc to benefit Downtown Streets Team in Palo Alto.

It is so rewarding to be offering donation workshops. This community means so much to me and it’s just feels right to be giving back and helping our youth of today to do the same. Have your kids join us in August or another time in the future. We have a great time!
